Overview

From the beginning, I intended Stasis to function as a text face. I have always felt there was a certain lack in the versatility of serif type in body copy; there were fonts with grades but those fonts never had weights spanning the extremes. I wanted a serif type that would span all weights from Hairline to UltraBold, with additional subtle weights in the middle to act as grades. On top of this, I thought that specific to body copy a uni-width typeface was extremely useful, so that changes in weight would not mean reflowing the text again. As for the overall tone of the typeface, I wanted something with edge and geometry; something sturdy but also sophisticated and elegant.
